Mentos and Diet Coke


Please be careful... don't do this inside.. don't try this without appropriate adult supervision (Please keep in mind that not all adults are capable of supervision..)
If you do try this, and someone gets wet, sticky, dirty, etc.... don't blame me. I am just the webmaster.

Simple directions:
Items needed:
Mentos candies...

Diet Coke 2 Litre bottle (you may also wish to try other soft drinks, but Diet Coke works the best)
 
Tubular Mentos deployment device (toilet paper roll works fine, when cut and taped to the size of bottle mouth)

Mentos deployment delay device (postcard, heavy paper etc.)


Do this:
Open Coke Bottle
Hold tube over opening of coke bottle, with delay device in place
Fill tubular deployment device with Mentos (12 or more)


Swiftly pull out the delay device, allowing mentos to fall into bottle....
RUN!!!!!  

We don't know why this works, we do know that it must be a chemical reaction.
We do not know why Mentos particularly, but other candies do not do this.
We do not know why Diet Coke works better then other products
 (regular coke you get a smaller reaction...)
