Lower Salt River

The lower Salt River is a popular water recreation spot.
Swimming, fishing, picnicing, tubing, kayaking are all popular at different places along the river.

This is just minutes away from the city.

This map shows the area where these pictures were taken.
The first recreation point at the river is barely a mile north of the last subdivision on Bush Highway.
Power Road turns into Bush Highway at Thomas Road.

The blue X represents where the bridge in this picture is.

There is a sign on the bridge telling Tubers on a certain route that this is their get out point.
I find it funny, that even our rivers have road signs.
It is interesting that "Tubing" is a real recreation around here.

There is "Salt River Recreation" to take all of the worries out of tubing.

For only 13 dollars a day, you can be shuttled to a tubing drop off point, use their tubes, and then be picked up at any one of four pick up points, then shuttled back to your car.

Also, you get the enjoyment of being tubing in large groups. Which of course is the only way to tube.

Here is their website, with all of the info.

These next two were also taken at that part of the river. There are ramadas and restrooms.

These next pictures are taken where the purple X is. We never did figure out if we were supposed to pay at each parking lot.
It didn't seem to matter, since the printout we got was severly affected by the heat. Within minutes of being placed in the windsheild, it was unreadable.

Within minutes of parking, apparently a bug tried to attack. We never saw the green and red winged flying thing they claimed to see.. that chases them off.

We did see a spider, and a lot of cool webs.

So we went instead to the little "island" where we saw the Kayak Exit sign.. which I thought was cool.

A late day storm came close.

And as the day ends, there are no words to describe the beauty of what is.
