Just a little about being a kid in AZ.

(This page is getting old, the children are growing, for more recent adventures, see the Zoo page, the Desert Page, or the "New Stuff' page)

Having four kids, there is never a dull moment.

Summers in Arizona can be long and hot.

We have many creative ways to keep the kids busy in the house.

Twisty "Animal" balloons

Patriotic shirts - designed, created,
material picked out, all by oldest daughter, no pattern used.
What kind of fun can a teenager have?

Fun Away from Home

Arizona summers outside usually require water in some form.

Volunteering for car washes is good.

Ice Blocking - you need a 5 or 10 lb. block of ice,

a towel to cover it with, and a steep hill,

like in many of our local parks.

(Lately it is frowned upon by the powers that be).

YMCA hockey.

Daughter is the one with long hair.

A real ride in a real monster truck !!!

Goofing around at Police booth of Safety Fair.

Home made underwater viewer.

Take an old coffee can, both ends opened

cover one end with plastic wrap, and stick it in the river.

Now you have underwater view of the creatures.

The City of Mesa with the use of the Mesa Public School's pools have a great

"learn to swim" program, with lessons from infants with moms up to adult

non-swimmers. They offer stroke correction, diving and sychronized swimming.

The pools are also open to the public for swimming, and as you can see, some of the

Junior Highs have elaborate pools, with water slides, diving tanks, and even

special areas for preschoolers with zero depth graduated water.

Competative Dive and Swim teams are also available through the City of Mesa Parks and Rec.

Young Eagle Flight Program

In April 2003, our three youngest children, ages 8, 12, and 14,

got a free flight from the Young Eagles Program.

The Young Eagles program has been developed by the

EAA Aviation Foundation to welcome young people into the world of aviation.

They had a great time, and learned the hows,

and whys of flight. (The blue boxes is where I marked out names)
