Many new pictures added.

Clouds of all different shapes and sizes. All pictures taken this summer, in Mesa Arizona, unless otherwise stated.

Dust Storms of Summer 2002

This one is headed toward Mesa High, that fence is the Drivers Ed course.

The above 3 were taken during different storms, from my backyard.

This is the sun, about 5:30 in the evening, during a dust storm.

My favorite storm so far this year. During the last week of August. Sorry people, but if it going to storm, I do like to be there. I hope all the roofs weren’t damaged to bad, and the trampoline is better now. This is a cell from the storm that downed the power poles and trees into the homes near Alma School road, in south Mesa. This is also the first storm ever that had me screaming “I’m Scared” on the video. (That would be seconds before the video camera died and the trampoline came flying over the wall, and tumbling down the street toward us. I will try to get some video stills on here soon, since the digital can not be used while it is actually raining on me.)

About 5:30, rain starts coming down. Was sunny just a minute ago.

Video still from 5:31, sunny again, but the rain and wind are blowing like crazy.

Within 3 minutes the storm has passed and the sun is out, this is the trampoline that was sucked over a wall from a backyard and came tumbling toward us. We weren’t too scared of it, after all, the rain, hail and wind shaking the van were holding our attention. Notice the trampoline is on the right side of the street, where we should be. We were on the left, driving toward it. That is the passenger side, sideview mirror in the lower left corner of the picture. Appears it was a close one

Same storm, more damage. Someone lose a tree?

This is the storm cell, after it had passed. These are some of the coolest clouds I have ever seen.

One more of the same storm cell. Now busy blowing things around in another neighborhood.

Same clouds, different angle. So is this what a “Microburst” looks like?

Now, if you have people who tell you that the weather here is so unsettled that sometimes it rains on one side of the street, yet the other side gets none, maybe you will believe it.This tree shows how fast and furious the storm came through and was gone. It rained on one side of the TREEs but not on the other.

Here are some video stills from 9-6-2002

This one brought a lot of much needed rain, and a lite show, not a lot of wind.

These are taken from a video, same strike, side by side frames.
This one covers four frames, starting with just some brightness.
This one that lit up the sky so bright, was just a couple of little whispy streaks.
This is the color we see, when a transformer shorts out.

One more little whispy one.
